Rose Colored Glasses: Our Visit to Madonna Inn

While on our epic road trip through California, we stopped for lunch at the historic Madonna Inn–a historic landmark hotel in San Luis Obispo. I had seen photos of this dreamy pink attraction on Instagram, and knew that each of the hotel rooms were uniqued themed and decorated. What I didn’t know was how much there was to look at if you were just stopping by.

Their iconic sign, right off the 101, features amazing horse and carriage imagery–a nod to the Madonna family’s heritage of raising cattle and riding horses. There’s lots of photos on walls of the family, going back many generations.

I was completely entranced by their gardens. They were so quaint and lovely, and the roses smelled heavenly.

Speaking of roses, the carpet throughout the main restaurant and much of the main building was designed by a Disney illustrator. The carpet inspired the design of their signature wine/water goblets.

The Gold Rush steak house (which was not yet open when we visited), is magic. Truly, you just want to live there.

I mean…the pink wonderment of it all. So pretty!

We split a slice of the champagne cake. The slices are so big, I strongly recommend sharing. My husband still dreams about that cake.

At some point in my life, I’d like to stay at this magical wonderland. Though we were only there for a couple of hours, I’m still bewitched by its beauty. When we came back to Florida, we arrived to a package of two mint wine goblets that my husband had ordered from their website. I’m currently researching and testing a specialty cocktail to share with you all inspired by our visit, so stay tuned!
